World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
The feature of upgrading items allows players to boost the item level for weapons that can be equipped or armor. This increases the stats and may also include buffs or rerolls on an affix.
It is important to note that even though you can upgrade your magic and common equipment, it's usually not worth it. Unique and rare equipment will soon surpass modernized equipment and magic.
Cost
The player must pay gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item is dependent on its current level and upgrade type selected. For example upgrading a weapon is generally be less expensive than upgrading armor, as weapons have lower requirements for level. The amount of Gold required increases when the item is upgraded to an upper level.
Upgraded items also come with enhanced stats that can boost its performance in a variety of ways. This includes increasing its attack power critical strike chance, or damage per second. An upgraded item may also add additional benefits to the unit it's equipped with. These upgrades are able to be used for a variety of reasons for example, to increase the overall power of a group or individual unit. They can also be a significant influence on gameplay.
Items can be upgraded at any item upgrader NPC in the game. In general these NPCs are found in capital cities or major questing areas. Players can also find upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses, or by talking to the NPCs in their garrisons for their faction.
The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to upgrade the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. This process is similar to gear reforging process in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However instead of making use of currency, players will need to visit an upgrader for their item to complete the process.
Upgrades can be costly especially for armor and weapons. Depending on the upgrade track each step up in level of the item could cost many Valorstones and crests. The total cost could be very prohibitive for players who don't have the resources or aren't willing to grind them.
Fortunately the game allows players to roll an upgraded item using an additional tool available in the items menu. This option will replace the upgraded item with an unlevel 1 version that offers different bonus effects. Time is an important factor.
Upgrades to items are a method to increase your ship's stats and gear without needing to level them up. The more levels an item is upgraded to, the greater its boosted stat value and the more items it can upgrade to.
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to gain an attribute bonus, or a special effect, when the equipment is worn.
